Export

i) Rice: Exports of both basmati and non-basmati rice subject

to registration of contracts with Agricultural and Processed

Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) are

allowed freely.

ii) Wheat and Wheat Products: Export of wheat is permitted

up to one million tonnes, but export of wheat products,

whether in bulk or in consumer packs, is freely allowed.

iii) Pulses: Exports of pulses in bulk is permitted only under a

licence. However, export of this item in consumer packs

upto5 Kgs. is free.

iv) Paddy (rice in husk): Exports are permitted under a licence.

vii) Oilmeals: Export is free without any restrictions.

viii) Tobacco: Export is free without any restrictions for both

  1. Unmanufactured and (b) Manufactured tobacco.

vii) Spices: Export is free without any restrictions.

viii) Cashew: Export is free without any restrictions.

ix) Horticultural and Floricultural Products: Export is free

without any restrictions.

x) Fresh vegetables: Export is free without any restrictions.

xi) Onion: Export is canalised subject to quantitative

restrictions.

Export Performance

Increased exports of agricultural commodities have been witnessed over

the   years. In the last five years, the value of agricultural exports has

increased   from Rs.110515300 thousand during the year 1994-95 to

Rs.206356100  thousand in the year 1998-99. The data relating to exports

of commodities    such as rice, groundnut, oilmeals and raw cotton

including waste) where significant increase of exports (in quantity) has

ken place during the last five years are given in the Table below:
