American Sugarbeet Growers Association Incorporated in 1975, the purpose of the organization is to unite the sugarbeet growers in the United States and promote their common interests. The site provides plenty of information on the US sugarbeet industry. It has a map which illustrates the locations in the US where sugarbeet is grown, a section on US sugar policy and an illustrated step by step process on how sugarbeet is processed into sugar. The site sets out to dispel many of the myths surrounding sugar. It discusses sugar as a natural preservative in foods, sugar as not the cause of hyperactivity and other health and nutrition issues as it relates to the uses of sugar. Provides information on the institute and the Canadian sugar industry. There is a F&Q section on nutrition and trade as it relates to sugar. With a quota of over 1 million tonnes of sugar in the European Union, Danisco Sugar is one of Europe's largest sugar producers. Danisco Sugar produces sugar and sweeteners in the following countries; Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Poland and Lithuania. The site provides information on the company's sugar production and products. International Sugar Organization The International Sugar Organization is a unique intergovernmental body devoted to improving conditions on the world's sugar market through debate, analysis, special studies and transparent statistics. The public relations office of the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture provides a comprehensive site on the Mauritius sugar industry. Of special note is the PROSI magazine, available on-line in both English and French, which publishes articles related to the sugar industry. This is an informative sugar educational website for students of all levels. The site comes out of Ireland and it has a section on Sugar in Ireland, as well as other sections that deal with sugar production and sugar as it relates to health matters. An informative site that describes sugar and its refining process. The site is divided into the following sections: sugar facts, consumers, professionals, kids and parents. This is an American site; therefore, it lists the sugarbeet companies and processing facilities involved in the US sugar industry. Sugarbeet Research and Education Board of Minnesota and North Dakota This is a very informative site that provides the user access to the board's research publications for specific years. It is also possible to read pamphlets on various sugarbeet issues and production guides for growing sugarbeets. This site provides information on the Asian sugar industry; most of the information is from India. There is a section of news releases that has articles on sugar, which have been published in Asian journals. This is a technical publication that informs the international sugar industry of recent production developments. The articles are not on-line and are only available to subscribers. However, the site does have extensive links to other sugar sites, ranging from weather reports, commodity quotes to science and the economy. With a username and password (obtainable from the Sugar Online site), access to sugar prices and charts are possible. Without a username and password, access to the news headline section is possible, and this section can prove informative for articles related to sugar are available for browsing.
